Urethane Coatings
In addition to epoxy coatings and flooring, we have available a full line of urethane coatings as finish coats for certain floor coating and surfacing
applications. This exterior parking deck is protected from ultraviolet light degradation with a urethane topcoat. We also use urethane as floor sealers
on certain decorative, chemical resistant and protective coating applications. Urethane and Polyurethane are two names for the same generic type of coating.
Polyurethane Flooring
Generally, urethane coatings and floor sealers provide somewhat better scratch resistance, gloss and color stability than epoxies. But thickness,
adhesion, repair and recoatability properties are inferior to epoxy coatings. Non-slip safety flooring systems are best made with epoxies as opposed
to polyurethane coatings. Urethanes are often utilized in conductive flooring and Electro-Static Dissipative flooring systems. Polyurethanes are rarely
used in industrial flooring applications, although may be specified as a thin film floor sealer.
Polyurethane Coatings
At TECHCOAT, a primary use for urethane coatings is for traffic decking systems. This parking deck is above an underground
parking garage, so waterproofing is essential. We utilize epoxy primers and elastomeric epoxy coatings top coated with polyurethane coatings for resistance
to UV light exposure, TECHCOAT decking systems provide optimum exterior durability, with non-slip safety and abrasion resistance.
